Program specifications and requirements

Certificate | PDCA | PDCS | ADPGDCS | DMCM | DSAC

 

1.    Basic Computer Literacy

The program is designed for those Interested in having Basic computer literacy and not necessarily as a Certificate course. Candidates are advised to take Introduction to computer and any additional practical course.


2.    Pre - Diploma  

This program is designed for those interested in Diploma programs but have less than four credits in GCE or SSCE O' Levels.

Computer Courses

a. English Language

b. General Mathematics

c. Economics

d. Accounting

e. Fundamentals of Computers

Duration - 3 months

***Completion and passing these courses qualifies candidates for the Diploma program

 

3.    Proficiency Certificate. 

The program is designed for those Interested in Computer literacy and not necessarily for a Diploma Certificate. Minimum requirement is GCE or SSCE attempt. Those not meeting the number of courses for the award of a Certificate will be issued statements of result to show the courses taken.

a. Introduction to Computers, Word Processing and any 2 two of the following:

b. Word Processing (WordPerfect or Ms Word)

c. Spreadsheet (Ms Excel)

d. Database (Ms Access)

e.O.P.S.M                                                                                                                                   

f. Accounting on Computer.

g. CorelDraw or any other practical and two general courses from 4B. (a total of 3 Practical and 2 theory courses).

4.    Professional Diploma in Computer Application:

The program is designed for those that are interested in having a very strong training in computer application programs.

To obtain a Diploma in Computer Application, Students are required to take six Application courses (1 through 5) plus one other and 8 general courses from those listed above.

Degree holders or HND holders will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application.

5.     Professional Diploma in Computer Science.

The program is designed for those that are interested in having a very strong training in science of computing .

To obtain a Diploma in Computing, students are required to a ,b,d and any other 3 from section A ( 5 courses and a-g & any other two in section B (8 Courses).

6.     Advanced Diploma/Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Studies.

The course is opened to those with Diploma in Computer Science or OND, HND, and Degree holders from other fields. Students without a good background in Application whatever their entry qualification will be required to take the courses in section A in addition to those in section C.

Students with a good background in computer application will be required to take courses in section B in addition to courses in section C only.

Candidates with HND or Degree will be awarded EICSI's Post Graduate Diploma.

 

7.     Diploma in Micro Computer Maintenance

Duration 9 Months.  Requirements is 4 credits from a GCE or SSCE result

Note that Practical courses are run during the regular and the holiday programs, while the theory courses are taken only during the regular terms.

Costs:

Each General Course costs N1000

Each Computer Course is N3500 except Introduction to Computers that costs N4000.
